Handsome Desmond is still searching for his forever home. This sweet, joyful boy would love to find a family of his own so he can truly enjoy his golden years. While he is older and heartworm positive (to be treated by SSR), don’t let that fool you! He has plenty of love to give. He loves meeting new people, and has not yet met a person he didn't like. He is good in a fenced yard, but would be fine in a home without one , as o ne or two leash walks a day is plenty of exercise for him. He loves his walks, and is very well-behaved on the leash. He also loves to play; tennis balls, squeaky toys, and rope toys are his favorites. But nothing makes him happier than a good butt scratch, and he will wiggle and lean into you. He also enjoys simply sitting and snuggling on the couch next to his person, and would be happy to keep you company while you binge Netflix. Desmond also knows some basic commands - "come," "sit," "down," and "stay." He's also crate trained and well-behaved in his crate, as well as housebroken. He is great with cats, and I believe he can get along with most dogs. He doesn't really like to play with other dogs, and would get along best with another dog with a calm personality. I haven’t seen him around children, but with his tendency to lean against people, as well as being a bit clumsy in general, I think he would be best with older children that he can’t knock over easily. He did have two masses removed, one on his neck and one on his back, but both were just cysts. Desmond was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived to his foster in West Virginia on September 28th. He is Heartworm positive, which will be treated at SSR’s expense.
