Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
Lexy is a spayed 1 ½ year old German shepherd. She weighs around 50 pounds. Lexy is current on all of her vaccinations as well as her monthly preventatives. She is a little skittish and will bark when frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Lexy has mild separation anxiety but she does fine if left in the company of another dog. She is house and crate trained. Lexy will do best with older/considerate kids and in a home with no small dominant female dogs. Lexy loves to play!!! She is a very sweet, energetic girl looking for a playmate her size or larger to play tug and wrestle with. She loves her foster’s 4-year old male GSD who is twice her size. She’s a super-fast runner that loves to chase and catch balls so she will need an extra-long yard. Lexy is a little too curious about cats but she will leave them alone if firmly told to. While Lexy has been through obedience training, she may need some refreshers on the down and stay commands. She struggles a bit with those two because she’s still very much a puppy with high energy and a strong eagerness to play. On a positive note, her recall is very good! Lexy does have some mild gastrointestinal issues but she takes probiotics daily. She gets an upset tummy from most natural chews and dog treats. She’s never been given rawhide products, only natural chews, bones and bully sticks. She’s been known to eat dirt and other animal’s feces if left unsupervised for too long. Lexy was dewormed in September.
She was adopted from SSR in September 2019 as a puppy and is now back available for adoption due to attacking the resident Shih Tzu More about Lexy 1019Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Somewhat vocal, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Plays fetch, Playful, Skittish, Needs a companion animal, Not good with small dogs If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know.
