Kokopeli (aka Koko) is super sweet, loves to be loved on and just wants to lay at your feet. Due to an old injury, her back right ankle is locked, so it doesn’t flex or extend. It doesn’t bother her at all, and she loves going for walks and is a phenomenal jogging partner. Koko would do best in a home with older children or empty nesters. Although Koko loves kids and will let them climb all over her, loud play and quick movements make her uneasy, and having one in the house full-time would probably be too much for her. Koko does like to watch the neighborhood kids play and will alert us when one of them falls or gets too far out of sight. Koko also enjoys a good howl with the fire truck or ambulance...just to make sure you also heard it. If you have cats, Koko is what they call “cat curious”. She’s new to them and is interested, but not aggressive. She could learn to coexist with cats but her new family would need to ensure slow introductions and correct any unwanted behavior. Koko is also very good with other dogs, and would love to have another doggy companion in the house. She has been treated for heart worm, is spayed, and is ready to meet her forever family.
Koko was rescued as a pregnant stray in Texas. She arrived to her foster in Virginia on July 23rd. She gave birth on 07/31-08/01, to 10 big puppies, all of which sadly passed in the following days.
