Max is one handsome fella! He has the most contagious smile and a big personality. He loves to play with all toys, but his favorites are tug-of-war and peanut butter filled chew toys. If Max is not playing you can find him cuddled up right next to you or cooling off on the cold tile floors. Max’s currently foster family consists of two other dogs and four cats. He would do best in a home without another dog, or a home with a submissive/older dog. Max also has a lot of interest in the cats and likes to try to play with them. He would do best in a home with a dog-savvy cat. He loves humans of all ages, but young children will just have to be gentle since Max still has pain from his current injuries. Max has a consult appointment with his orthopedic surgeon on 10/31, which will give us more information about his potential need for surgery. Max has responded really well to accupunture and has made great improvements since living with his foster family. Max was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas after being hit by a car. Shortly after rescue the local ER told SSR his pelvis had shattered into his spine and he would never make a recovery. We were urged to euthanize Max, but we decided a second opinion was vital before making such permanent decisio ns and sent him to San Antonio. Our vet there offered to take him home as a foster Max arrived in Virginia on July 25th.
