Sweet Ellie has been waiting so long for her forever home! Unfortunately, there weren't any foster homes available when Ellie arrived from Texas, so she spent the last 6 months in boarding. Although she has attended several adoption events, Ellie was overlooked because she was so happy to be out of the kennel and around people and other dogs that she barked...a lot (hey that's what dogs do in boarding, right?) By barking so much she gave potential adopters the impression that she might be a little too active for their home or that she might be difficult to train. Boy, did they get Ellie wrong! In her new foster home Ellie is so happy and her tail hasn't stopped wagging. She is an absolute sweetheart that loves people and toys. She is smart , eager to please and food motivated and is starting to learn her basic commands. She constantly looks to her foster mom and dad for praise that she is doing things right. Ellie isn't skittish or shy but does lack self confidence which is understandable from being kenneled for so long. In the short time at her new foster home she is already getting more confident and sure of herself. She is learning how to be a dog again. She does do better with non alpha dogs because she gets scared and that's why she barks. Ellie loves going to work everyday and meeting all the customers and playing with their kids. She has not barked at anyone since she has arrived at her new foster home. Ellie is not much of a cuddlier yet. She wants to but she just isn't sure but in time I'm sure she is going to love to cuddle with her new family. It is believed that Ellie will do fine in a house with other non alpha dogs and with slow introductions. Ellie is still a little afraid of the cats and prefers that they lie still so she can ignore them and pretend they don't exist. Ellie does not chase or seek out cats but when they move they're a little scary and she barks at them. Her foster mom is continuing to work with her on proper cat introductions and not to be afraid of them. Ellie is around 3 years old,UTD on shots, spayed and heart worm negative. She is gentle and kind and doesn't jump up to get attention. She is house trained and walks well on a pinch collar. She is not a high energy dog. She absolutely loves to play ball but is just as happy to lay on her dog beg. And when she plays ball she is so gentle and does not try and grab it out of your hand or a childs hand. She patiently waits for you to throw it. This poor girl has been thru so much in her life and she deserves to find her forever home and finally know how it feels to be loved and spoiled.
