Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Jacob 0898 needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
I was rescued from a shelter in Texas. In my first picture, you see me all fresh from my bath and I'm all tuckered out! Mama says I was such a very good boy! You would never know I'm new at this whole thing! My nickname should be "foxy" cause I am almost the color of a fox and my body shape looks just like one too. My face is pure shepherd though. Here’s what else my foster mom has learned about me: Distinguishing mark: White sock, right front leg Shedding: Moderate for breed Eye color: Brown Tail type: Long, fluffy & curly! Condition: No known health issues, mildly underweight Housetrained: Mostly Activity level – moderate with people; high energy with other dogs New people: Very shy, but no signs of aggression. Will retreat to a safe distance and watch awhile until comfortable with new people and situations. OK with dogs: Yes, however he is pure puppy. Your dog must be tolerant of puppy rambunctiousness. He will need to be taught doggie etiquette. OK with cats: Not tested yet OK with kids: Yes Yard needed: Yes Fence needed: Not required, but would be a great added bonus. Jacob loves to run and play outside. Owner experience needed: German shepherd breed experience; puppy experience Training: Adopter must commit to training Jacob. He is new to this whole family thing and will need training to be the best pup he can be. Likes to vocalize: Mild separation anxiety; barks for about 10 minutes when alone (not with his humans or pets), then will settle down. Rarely barks otherwise. Compatible qualities: Jacob would love to have another young dog to play with. His energy and playfulness might be a bit much for an older dog or cat to handle. He doesn’t show aggression, but it will take a while for him to realize that other pets aren’t his personal play toys. Jacob needs a family that will take time with him and let him get comfortable, helping him to feel safe, loved and secure. Personality: Jacob is the sweetest love bug! He loves lying on the couch with his head in my lap. He likes to know where I am and would follow me anywhere. Although shy, he did great at the vet. He let them examine him, give him his shots and trim his nails. He did great with his bath at home, too! He doesn’t bark at other animals or people. He even rubbed noses with a cow. Jacob will be a wonderful companion for the right family. He loves to please his humans!
