Donna (we call her D-Lila) has been in Virginia since August 9th. She was a little shy at first, but has really bloomed since being in foster care. There are so many great things about her its hard to know where to start. She loves to play will sticks and balls and teases the resident GSD which he just loves. They play games with each other which is so fun to watch. She loves going for car rides and sometimes I have a hard time getting her out of car. She has her favorite bed and sleeps soundly on it all night. She loves to look out the window on her favorite spot on the couch and has dramatically improved being in the crate during the day. We go for walks in the neighborhood and she's also improved on her leash training. We still have work to do, but she's doing really well. We spend a lot of time in the woods and she loves to run and play. She took to small kids right away and I believe she would thrive in a house with children and/or another dog. She has recently displayed a fear of [a certain] cat but would probably be okay in a house with a cat. She has no concept of personal space and is the poster dog for "a follower". She wants to be with the crowd and is always looking for approval from her foster. She is house/potty trained and does not display high prey drive, or aggression with food or toys. She's laid back and super easy. Donna does have a medical condition which has made it hard for her to be adopted. She tested positive for Brucellosis which will likely require a lifetime of medicine. Most of the advice potential adopters are getting from their vets is that she should not be in a house with small children, elderly or puppies. This is due to the rare chance that she can pass the disease to those with reduced immune systems. Her foster has another dog, and the neighbors have small children, which she spends a lot of time with. She's such a happy girl, you'd never know she had some health issues!
