Ben is a great dog! He is smart and confident, he hasn’t met anyone or anything he doesn’t like, except baths. He does a little “clacking” or “air snapping” when he is excited but he never gets close to you. It is actually cute and funny, like he is talking to you. Ben also takes treats very nicely even though he loves them so much. Ben had someone who loved him and taught him good manners. He has a lot self-control and knows to sit when he wants something instead of jumping. He is good with other dogs and kids. We have not tested him with a cat but I’m sure he would want to chase small furry animals. He is a great jumper and has started to jump gates when he really wants to be with us. But he has great house manners and is easy to train. Although he is heart worm positive and will be treated by SSR, he is otherwise healthy and active and would like an active family or person to love. We think Ben might be a German Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog mix, both because he lacks a tail and because he has the funny, roguish, and occasionally obstinate personality of a cattle dog. He's a gentle, affectionate dog, but he will probably try to run your household if he doesn't have a family who will continue to train him and provide structure and activity that meets his needs.
