Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
I was pulled from a shelter in Texas. A diamond in the rough. Harper is somewhere around a year old, good with dog-savy cats (she is interested but only to play) and dogs. We recommend only older children (10+) in the home because she can be mouthy when amped up for play. Harper is under socialized and was probably abused very early in life. She is more nervous of men than women, but not in an aggressive way, whatsoever. She warmed up to my husband tenfold after he took her for walk and would be fine in a home with men so long as they are patient with her and work to earn her trust. Though Harper can be nervous and flighty, she is still a German Shepherd puppy. She can go from hyper to cowering on the floor in a second, and so a quieter home is probably best. Harper needs a handler who is both confident and loving, and understands how to balance those two things. Whoever adopts Harper will be strongly urged to work with a professional trainer, as it will help her bond to the adopter as well as gain the confidence and structure she needs in her life. Harper has a ton of drive, loves toys and treats and will make an absolutely wonderful companion.
