Hogan is a sweet teddy bear! Hogan may be 5 years old, but he still acts and plays like a big puppy. He loves to play with his toys and happy to run, jump, fetch, walk, or whatever else may be on today’s agenda. He is crate trained and loves having the crate as his safe place. He will hang with his humans or doggie friends, or sometimes wander around the house to check the perimeter. Hogan hasn’t been exposed to some of the awesome things in life yet, so it has been fun introducing him to new things and watching his excitement. Hogan does great with dogs and kids. He is 50/50 on cats. A dog savy cat would be ok, but otherwise he may need training not to chase the small furry things. (He doesn’t chase to hurt, more like Hogan thinks it is a fun game the kitty is trying to play!) He can sometimes get a little too rambunctious, so he could possibly knock over small children. (He will be very sorry; he doesn’t quite realize his size!) He is up for car rides and jumps right in. Baths are tolerated but treats go a long way in helping with that toleration. Hogan is completely potty trained and will generally head to the door when he needs to go out. Hogan does somewhat ok with standard obedience, however a trainer or obedience classes would be a great tool to help perfect some great skills. He does Ok on a leash, but he still pulls because there is so much new stuff to see!
Hogan is currently recovering from demodex manage and some skin infections. He is also heartworm positive. His skin condition should clear up soon and we will also be starting treatment for heartworms shortly. If he is adopted before the heartworm treatment is completed, SSR will pay for the remaining treatment course. Once his HW treatment is completed, he will need to be neutered, also being paid for by SSR.
