Finn is a Malinois/Shepherd mix, heavy on the Malinois! He loves people and is friendly to everyone he meets. Finn has a high energy drive and would be perfect for someone looking to do competitive agility or other sport work. He does need to stay active and would do best when given jobs to keep him busy. He will also need a strong handler that is consistent with his training. Finn is house trained and currently working with a trainer on some basic obedience skills. He is a Velcro dog and loves being with his humans. He does not like to be left alone for longer amounts of time. Approximately 4 hours is a good max time for him to be crated. (He does sleep fine in his crate) Finn can get a bit mouthy and needs toys or treats to chew. (He loves his stuffed toys and bones!) This is a dog that loves constant stimulation. He is good on a leash but will pull and bark if he sees a strange dog. Finn is very treat motivated and an eager learner. He is also an expert car rider. Finn has some dog reactivity and we are also working on that. He is attending a socialization class and does like playing with dogs, he just doesn’t always initiate play and will bark at dogs he doesn’t know. He is also slow to warm up to other dogs in the household. He can be fine with them after a proper introduction and some time to get to know each other. Finn would be best with another high energy dog. His exuberance would overwhelm an older dog. Finn is good with kids but can sometimes play too rough or get mouthy. Older, dog savvy kids would be best. Generally, we do not require a fence for our dogs, but with Finn’s high jumping abilities, he will need one. As with most shepherds or shepherd mixes, he will vocalize often to let you know his thoughts and opinions. Finn is an absolute sweetheart and waiting patiently for his forever family!
