When we first met Ralph, he was leading a pack of small dogs and keeping his motley crew safe. This is something that comes quite naturally to him. (Yes, all the dogs were rescued) Ralph is a 4 year old Shepherd and is ready to find his forever home. He is incredibly smart, active, driven, and determined. He looks you in the eye begging to know what you want from him. When you give him a command or try to show him what you want, you can actually see the wheels turning in his head. He has picked up some basic obedience training unbelievably quickly, in less than 24 hours. He needs an adopter to refine and make use of his amazing talent and energy. In return, he'll give you everlasting love, devotion and so many kisses. Ralph is great with dogs and kids. ( we recommend him with older kids because, in his excitement, he may knock smaller kids down.) He loves being with his people and forgets that at 80lbs, he isn’t exactly a lap dog. Due to a high prey drive, we do not recommend him with cats. He loves exploring and learning new things. He is learning to hang out in a crate while his foster is gone. It isn’t his favorite, but he can do it. He does great in a car and would be happy to accompany his people about their daily tasks. Ralph is heartworm positive and currently being treated by Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue. If he is adopted before he has finished treatment, SSR will pay for the remaining course.
