Bear, is a wonderful, lovable 3 1/2 year old energetic dog. Bear and I had a talk this evening and I asked him what he was looking for in a home. So this is what he came up with. Bear would like a home with a fenced yard, it does not have to be a big yard. Bear is energetic and loves to spend time outside. Sometimes it is just laying out in the sun, but he really likes chasing and jumping after balls and playing frisbee. With good solid training Bear could be good off leash, but this will take some time before he gets to that point, in the meantime, a fence would provide him a way to exercise and just be able to hang out. He has never tried to jump the fence or dig under the fence. While Bear loves to go for walks, it may not always burn off all of his energy. I believe Bear was kept outside most of the time in his previous home and outside is what he was used to. It took about a week before he settled down and had something else on his mind besides wanting outside. Now he will sit on the sofa or lay on the floor for short periods of time. So patience will be needed with Bear. Bear had his own room where he was crated but now prefers to be crated in our bedroom with us at night. He likes to be with his humans. Bear is not hesitant to go in his crate, you tell him it is time and he goes right in. Bear is pretty good on a leash and loves to go on walks and pick up sticks, he can sit, paw and down. He does well with kids, however I would suggest that he has a family with kids 10 and over OR dog savvy kids, because of his energy and sometimes he forgets how big he is. He likes car rides and does very well in a car, he does not hesitate to get in, in fact, the car is one of the first places he goes to when we go for a walk. We have had Bear for about 3 weeks and he is just now showing interest in playing with his foster brother. They have started to run in the yard together. I believe Bear to be more dominant than submissive. He does well with our cats, occasionally he will run towards them but stops, but for the most part ignores them. Bear is continually showing us his different personalities as he adapts to all the recent changes he has had. Bear just wants a family who will be patient with him and love him and in return, you will have a wonderful, faithful companion for More about Bear 0491Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids, Good with Adults, Does Good in the Car, Cratetrained, Plays fetch, Likes to play with toys, Likes to swim, Obedient, Playful, Affectionate, Intelligent If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know.
