Many of our dogs are named by us randomly. However Boone has been named in honor of a very special dog. The original Boone was a K-9 member of the Front Royal Police Department from 2007 - until his passing in 2018. Boone came to the FRPD in 2007, following his graduation from the U.S. Homeland Security and Border Protection Canine School. He was partnered with Sgt. Bryan Courtney, and the two became the department’s first K-9 narcotics team. We are honoring Boone for his many years of service with both his namesake, and the donation of our Boone's adoption fee. This donation will go towards helping the current K-9 officer and ensuring the K-9 program in Front Royal stays strong.
Boone is a lovable 2 year old Shepherd. This sweet boy is still growing through his young adult/ puppy stage, so obedience training is recommended. He is very eager to please and food motivated, so training should be a breeze for this smart guy! Boone has met two other doggies thus far, and did great after a proper introduction. He also does great with kids. Boone is not fond of being alone at this point. With so much change and instability in his life, he likes his human around to assure him all is well. He very well may outgrow this as he starts to feel more confident. Boone has so much more personality to show us and we can’t wait to update you as we find out more about this handsome guy!
