Anyone looking for a lap dog?  My name is Nala and I absolutely LOVE being around people- especially kids!

My foster mom says I am one of the sweetest dogs she has ever met and that I have a very “motherly” nature about me.   My favorite thing to do is crawl up into your lap and get as much attention as possible.  I absolutely love being pet and giving kisses!   Although I am very loving, I have not had the life I deserve and I can be a little timid and a bit unsure of my surroundings.   I am slowly learning to accept love, play and feel safe.

I still need some encouragement that it is okay to be outside.  I usually go potty as quickly as possible and then want right back in the house.  Today, I went on a walk and actually enjoyed it, though I’m still more comfortable cuddling on the couch.

I would really like my new family to have a crate for me to sleep in.  I really like my crate and I feel very safe and secure in it.  I am a low to moderate energy dog.  I am do not bark much, except when my foster brother gets close-I’m still not too sure about him.

My ideal family would be one who is willing to be patient with me and committed to helping me gain confidence by enrolling me in obedience training.

Nala News! (3-14-2018)

 

Hi Everyone.  I have had Nala for only a few days and already our whole family has fallen in love with her sweet soul.  It is hard to imagine how anyone could possibly mistreat her.  She is the biggest love bug ever and only aims to please.  There is not a single moment where she in not trying to place her head in my lap or cuddle up for kisses.  I am so very proud of her!  She is beginning to open up and trust again.  A few short days ago she was too scared to play or even go down the stairs.  Today, she confidently did both-and this is only two days-TWO DAYS!  Now that she is relaxed,  I have started working on simple obedience and she is doing very well.  She is an absolute pleasure to walk, rarely pulls, and is responsive to slight correction.  A few other things I have observed:

 

-Does well with bath; easy to groom; allows you to touch her tail, feet, muzzle

 

-Enjoys walks, heels extremely well

 

-Enjoys fetch, bully sticks, peanut butter treats

 

-Quiet; rarely vocal

 

-Loves her crate

 

-Needs training but is responding well to learning

 

-no food reactivity

 

-no known medical issues

 

-Good with people/EXTREMELY good with kids

 

-Unknown with cats

 

-Possibly dog-selective (Nervous around my male, but improving);Previously kenneled fine with female dogs

 

Nala will surely shine with an owner who will continue to build her confidence and trust.  She has already made amazing strides with a little leadership and love.  I cannot wait to see the dog that love builds her up to be!
