Mango is well on his way to completely healing and looking for his forever home. (See Mango’s story below.)
Mango is a loving, stubborn, and oafy puppy, and who loves chew toys. Actually, he loves anything that is chewable, so puppy proofing is a must.
He is a big mouthy puppy and would be good with older children only. Mango has been cat tested and basically ignores them (see video). He likes dogs and the ideal home would have a canine companion for Mango. He likes to be with his family, and will hang out under the kitchen table with everybody around.
He rides good in the car, and he is a good boy at bath time. Mango should have a crate for sleeping at night. Since he wants to be with his people, he prefers not to be in it during the day when everyone is home. Also, due to his energy level, crating during the day is not recommended.
Mango is potty training and working on ringing the bell to go out. He is learning some obedience. and he is doing well. He is not putting weight on his right front leg so l eash walking is limited but he seems good on a leash. Due to post-op healing, we haven’t been doing many activities with Mango, but he does love to play with his doggie foster brother (a black lab) and the foster’s son. The ideal family for Mango would be active because he is high energy, and once healed he will be active. We still do not know the status of his leg, the vet said it seemed like it was healing but because of the surgery healing process is going to take a little longer. Mango is signed up to do some water therapy and that should help. He’ll be going back to the vet a few weeks to see how the healing process is going
His family should be kind and patient and be able to cope with Mango’s stubbornness. Only older children would be suitable for Mango due to his size and rambunctiousness.
Mango’s Story - Mango is the $8,000 sweet Texas puppy who was hit by a car that didn’t stop. A stranger saw the incident and searched for vet hospitals to help. All refused except the Mission Vet. They contacted SSR and asked us to please fund his medical care, because they did not want to put Mango to sleep. Mango suffered a terrible fracture to his elbow and shoulder. Both required surgery, and he has pins in both front legs.
