Edith came into the rescue with her buddy Woodrow. Edith is a lovely reserved lady. She adores her crate and spends lots of her time there, and probably feels it is a safe place. As she becomes more acclimated, she may spend less time in the crate.

Edith is great with adults and kids, but is timid. We expect she may warm up to you once she gets to know you and trust you. She was an angel at the groomers for her bath. She rides quietly and enjoys car rides. Edith is potty trained. She has been very good when left alone in the home out of the crate. There has been no chewing or accidents.

Edith is not interested in playing or toys. She is pleasantly plump and is definitely a couch potato. Edith sleeps on her dog bed in the foster’s bedroom. She has not accepted the invite to come up on the foster’s bed. Edith tolerates other dogs, big and small, but has shown some dominant behavior with the foster’s female mastiffs. While this is very quickly corrected, an adopter that has a female dog should have a dog meet and greet.

There are no cats in the foster’s home so we are not sure if Edith is cat-friendly. However, due to her reaction to the barn cat, we believe  she  may not be friendly with cats.

T he only command Edith responds to is “sit”. On leash she pulls but is manageable. Edith is heartworm positive, and she is currently being treated.   Edith could benefit from some training to help build her confidence and for bonding with her adopters.

In the ideal home, Edith would be alone for no more than 5-6 hours a day. Edith and Woodrow are bonded and we want them adopted together.  They deserve the love and attention that they didn’t get in their previous home ; therefore ,  we hope to find a home where they are the only dogs.

If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this bonded pair, please let your case worker know. If you are not yet an approved adopter but are interested, please complete an adoption application!
