Update 1/24/18: I was saying to myself this morning "Zooey" you know what you need? You need a person all your own. So I decided to sit down and write this post.
Let me tell you a little about myself.
I have found out that I can get along with cats, well most cats, with a little practice, and patience from my human. I also have a unique way of playing. First I get a ball, then throw it around and do a move I like to call the "bucking bronco" and then I do a little puppy pouncing, and with all the excitement, I sometimes run into walls. I am still perfecting my moves. Foster mom keeps trying to video me playing but I won't cooperate.
Yeah I know what you are thinking, I am not a puppy anymore, but I still have plenty of energy and I have my quiet times too.
My foster mom says that I am the best at walking on a leash, I do not pull at all and I am always up for a walk.
I like the boy dog that I am living with, he is handsome and makes me feel safe. For so long I could not relax because I never knew where my next meal was coming from, or if I was going to run into a not to friendly dog. I was so used to not being loved and taken care of that I need to feel safe, which brings me to the subject of my crate. I LUV it, it is so cozy and warm and quiet, I sometimes go in the crate by myself to relax, just like humans do in their recliners and I sleep ALL night without a peep. I don't have many needs, but if you adopt me, I must have a crate. A girl needs her own space sometimes.
I follow my foster mommy around everywhere and I am growing fond of my foster daddy, it took me a little more time to warm up to him. So any men out there that want to adopt me, I will warm up to you too.
I am looking for a human that will love me, make me feel safe and be patient with me. I am sure there are many awesome things that I can do and we can learn what they are together.
Ohhh, I have had two baths and I was so proud of myself, I sat there like a good girl and it felt so goooood. I feel and look so much better now, I mean I am no runway model, but I feel that I am good looking. Just wait until I gain 5 or 10 pounds and I will be a knockout.
I have to tell you that sometimes when people move to quickly I get a little scared, but loud noises don't bother me. I don't hate the vacuum cleaner and the blender does not bother me or the washer and dryer and I don't even flinch when I hear a gun shot, yeah I know, you gotta remember, I AM in West Virginia, gunshots are gonna happen.
So when can we meet? I am anxious to find a forever home. It only takes a few minutes to fill out an application. I will be waiting for you, but not too long, after this post you may have to take a number.
Zooey is 2 years old and is a little shy. She walks very well on a leash, but does look at you for reassurance that she is okay. She has those big ears and the head tilt that just makes you melt. Zooey is curious about everything that is going on around her and seems to love watching dog videos on the television and figuring out who that dog is in the mirror and why she can't play with her. Zooey just needs a family that will help her gain her confidence back. Keep checking back for updates as I get to know her a little better.
