Maverick is full of energy, and loves to play, especially with his foster sister who is a little younger. Balls, walking, dog toys, any activity works for Maverick. He really likes his crate, and knows it’s his safe place. Car rides are his favorite thing to do other than play. When left alone, Maverick is pretty laid back, and we expect he and his foster sister are keeping each other company, probably playing. He is house trained and has not had any accidents. He is indifferent to cats. Maverick is ready for his forever home. He’s just under 2, neutered, up to date for vaccines, and is on preventatives. Maverick needs a special person who is patient and will provide training and leadership. He has had sort of an inconsistent life so sometimes he is not sure about people. He may be ok for a little while, but then he seems to get scared and will bark, especially at new people, even if he has been sitting right beside them for a while. Sometimes he will settle down again, and he doesn’t do this with everyone. We are still trying to determine what triggers this behavior. Since Maverick is not 100% sure about adults, he cannot go to a home with children because their unpredictable behavior would make him uncomfortable. Maverick needs a firm Alpha person, with GSD experience. He will try to see if he can gain the upper hand. Maverick does listen and follow most commands, sit, down, wait, and crate. He will even “go to his place” and wait for his dinner. Maverick will definitely need training, and his adopter must agree to provide training. He is an amazing love bug who is worth the effort!
