She is a very mellow and laid back lady who loves attention but not overly pushy about it. Have only heard her bark once, and that was at Maddie when they were playing. Her vet records say Lab/Shepherd mix, but her body structure and head remind me more of a pit. Does still favor her back right leg, which apparently was a sprain from playing at her previous foster. She does put weight on it and walks on it, but when moving quicker she goes into tripod mode. Kennel: Zina goes into the kennel easily when led, but not yet on command. She remains calm and appears to have no issues with it. Does not bark or howl when inside and remains calm. Possessiveness: Shows no outward possession issues between her and Maddie. Both appear to share bones/chews and toys with no issue. Touch/Handling: Does not have any issues with handling that I have observed at this point. She allows you to touch her wherever with no protest or issues. The only place she does react to is her back right leg, which is her injured leg. I just gently put my hand on the upper thigh portion and she turned to look but did not show any other issues. Food: No food aggression observed between her and Maddie. I initially fed them separately until I saw how she interacted with Maddie. I put their bowls out in the same room but separated and had no issue. Put Correction: Maddie has not really needed any correction due to bad behavior or doing something she shouldn't. When I corrected Maddie for chewing something she shouldn't with a verbal "No", I did see Maddie react and stop what she was doing as well even though it was not directed at her. Does well on leash but try to refrain from Dominance: Does not exhibit or show any dominance issues towards myself or Maddie. Does not cower or become submissive when Maddie showed some signs of trying to assert dominance. Interaction with other dogs: Does well with Maddie, and did not have issues when walked by or near another dog in the neighborhood. Interaction with other animals: Zina hasn't had an opportunity to meet Wendy, so I am unsure of how she would be with cats. She does look at the rabbits and squirrels when we go on a walk out back, but does not seem overly interested or zoned in and has not exhibited any prey drive. Car ride: Does very well in the car. She will sit or lay down in one area and not really move around. I am not sure if this will change once her leg is better, but she can jump in and out of my vehicle with no issue. When I first got her from the transport she did not really want me helping her in to the back of the car, but did allow me to pick her up to get her out. Overall behavior: Zina is a very well tempered and well mannered dog. Loves being around her humans, does well with other dogs, strangers, and kids from what I have seen. Great on leash, loves chewing and playing with a tennis ball. She really came alive when she saw the tennis ball in the back yard, but I refrained from doing too much because of her knee. Once her knee is healed, will likely love playing fetch. Seems standoffish at first, but doesn't last long. She is a very gentle soul, and will likely do well wherever she is placed.
