Hi! I'm Penny and my foster mom says I'm perfect. I am a little small for a shepherd, but what I'm missing in size I make up for in heart. I love all of my furry and feathered friends here including other dogs, cats, rabbits, and poultry. But, most of all, I love being with my foster mom and her daughter. I can't wait to have a family of my own that I can love forever! I walk on a leash like an angel. I love to learn and try very hard. Since coming to Virginia, I have learned heel, sit, wait, and I'm working on down and come (I did sneak out the door once, and I came as soon as I was called). I'm just learning how to play, even though I'm about three years old. I'm not sure what to think about toys, though I do like to snuggle with a stuffed animal and I'm very gentle with them. My favorite place to be is with my humans. But, I am a good girl in a crate, as long as it's the airline style, not the wire type. I am happy to rest there and will sometimes put myself in the crate when I need a break from the other dogs. Sometimes I get a little cranky with dogs, especially if I have to be outside in the heat for long or if they are being pushy or high strung. I get along best with other relaxed, laid back dogs. My foster mom thinks that if there are already dogs in my new home that I'll be fine (cause I did great with her dogs), but bringing in new dogs causes me a bit of anxiety, so I need to be shown that they are okay and that I'm okay, too. I'm a superstar at traveling, love to go for car rides, and I'm happy to meet new people. I'm even a favorite at the vet's office! Please think about me when you are deciding on a dog.
